Teach Soap

Hello everyone, long time no hear!! lol!! I have a CP salt bar question. I made a batch of cp that I made into salt bars, but the colorant didn't come out how I intended. I used Red mica and the soap came out orange. Was I supposed to use a particular type of colorant? My recipe included shea butter, mango butter, hazelnut oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil, lye of course fragrance oil and the red mica. Is there a particular type of colorant specifically for cp salt bars? Thank you!!

If your soap oils/butters had any yellow in it, it will come out orange.

The red mica from BB will turn orange in CP and MP both. It's lip safe and only stays red in lip balms.

I used the merlot mica from BB in my peppermint soap and that stayed red.

OMG, are you serious? What oils am I supposed to use in order to have my mica stay true? Olive Oil isn't clear, coconut Oil would be considered clear I guess, so what would I do? I have seen salt bars that have micas used that are the color of whatever color they were going for and it had olive oila dn other yellow oils!! Arrgghh!!

You need reds that are stable in CP soaps that and you need to use enough also.

Thank you everyone, i didn't even think about that, the Olive Oil that I have been using is Green!!!!!

After too many funky colors I always use light olive oil.
