I am sooo stupid. Thank God the soaps people get out of me have been MP or re-batched from others' bases.
I planned all week to create a CP batch of soap that was to be the biggest batch I've ever made-12lb. Probably not that big to everyone else but I'm new. I've never done anything bigger than 4lbs, and I've had great success with that.
I had the mold prepared, oils, fats, lye water, etc. Everything was at the right temp. I was very excited and then it occured to me, my pot was too small for all this to go in at once. In a panic I eyeballed it and pour in some oils and lye water into two seperate mixing pots and went at it. They both traced and I poured it and covered it. I'm so upset with myself. I'm pretty sure it won't turn out and I'm so bummed out that I'll lose all those ingredients.
So, for anyone new at this- if you get brave and go big make sure your pot is big enough for your bravery.
Darn it.

Sounds like you could use a bigger stainless steel pot. You can find those in places like Wall Mart, K Mart and sometimes some thrift store have them at a good price. Just make sure that the pot is true stainless steel.

So sorry this happened to you! Maybe you will be fortunate and your eyeballs will have been good judges of amounts and your soap will be not to lye heavy, not too lye low, but just right!
If not, looks like you will have some rebatching materials! And, it certainly could have been worse, it can always be worse, so give yourself credit for thinking fast and grabbing another dish!

when everything is at temp you could pour it all into a clean plastic bucket and mix it there. works just fine. :)
