Teach Soap

I made a 6lb batch which I poured into a square mold that I have used before with 6lbs of soap and it has sunk in the middle. Why would that happen? Thanks

Is it possible that you had thick trace & trapped a bubble? If it gelled, did it overheat?

Thanks for your reply. I don't think the trace was too thick and I am not sure if it over heated or not. I checked it a couple of times and it seemed to get hot but not excessively. Perhaps it is air as you suggest. The soap was made just over 24 hours ago so will wait another 24 hours and then turn it out and cut. Do you think it could still be gelling? When I lifted the lid a couple of hours ago I could feel warmth escape but the soap didn't feel warm or hot to the touch.

If you touch your soap and your finger only makes a slight dent and it feels cool, it should be safe to get it out of your mold.

OK thanks for that, will take it out soon and see what is happening. Hopefully it is only an air pocket.

Not sure if you can see the strange gel like bits running through the soap. I was a bit heavy handed with the EO, do you think this would be the cause?

Looks nice. Did you use titanium dioxide? It could be the fragrance as well, if you didn't stir well enough.

Thank you and yes I did use Titanium Dioxide. Why would that cause it to sink?

Thanks for your reply and it is good to know the reason for it sinking. Next time I will watch more closely and put it some where cooler so it doesn't over heat. I only put a board on top and did not wrap etc, but it was a warm day.
