Does it matter if the canned pumpkin is expired to soap with it? I've had a can that I haven't used and wasn't sure I would think it would be ok. I've been wanting to make soap with a little pumpkin in it :)

The expiration date on canned goods is worthless. I wouldn't eat it if it was 30+ years old and/or smelly. That would be a neat addition to soap!

Just as long as it hasn't been opened, you should be ok.

If the can is not puffed up or the stuff inside is not smelling funky or doesn't have a strange color or film - it's fine.
Those dates are just so they can sell more cans!

Sounds yummy!
( If you wouldn't mind sharing.) How much pumpkin per pound of oils do you use? When do you add it? Do you need anything to keep it from turning funky?
Thanks for any advice you can lend! :D

I make about a 4 1/2 lb. batch at a time. I add 3 oz. canned pumpkin and 2 tsp. of cinnamon,or pumpkin pie spice ( plus the FO) at light trace (BB has a very nice one) . Don't forget to discount some of the water to make up for the water in the pumpkin.

And no it dosen't get funky. Pumpkin is just water , plant fiber and a little natural sugar if you think how lye reacts with all that, it works out just fine.

I made some too and even though it's real light it's a really nice soap :) I used 3oz of pumpkin in a 2lb batch.
