You can add as little or as much as you want - it's cocoa powder that you're using, right? Not the cocoa butter?

If it's cocoa powder, what you see is what you get. So, start with 1/2 tsp per pound of soap and color to as dark as you want.

Just remember, like any "color" if you use too much, it will lather brown. You'll be able to get a nice dark tan but not a brown-brown because you're mixing brown plus white. The white soap automatically turns the darker brown hue into more of a muddy tan color. =)

That may explain the oil slick coming off it. I found a ratio somwhere on the net that said 1-2 percent of the recipe, and when I measured it out-- thinking back-- it came to a lot, I think. When I unmolded it, it had an oily, glossy top. Does cocoa powder have any oil in it? The only other time I got oily soap was when I added honey.
