I took a stroll downtown yesterday and was pleasently surprised at how much soap and bath and body products were being now offered by ethnically owned stores carrying products made locally. Lotions and shea butters, oils. It was really nice to see one of my flea market partners in a major store with his soaps.
I started making soap a year and half ago and saw there was a wide open market in the african american communities. Who would not be tired of the 6 different types of commercial soap available at the local Rite Aid. Even Walgreens is advertising a special area in each store aimed at locally made products! YEAH!
I can also find alot of the needed supplies now, trading between these stores and forging new alliances with local soap makers. This is too cool, I'm glad i found this hobby and found motivation in the adversity I faced initially in some of the online communities not used to diversity.
Yesterday was just too cool a day!
