Teach Soap

I have some flat beer here I am thinking of using to make soap. My question is -- why do that? What are the benefits of soap made from beer? Thanks.

I don't know what the benefits are, but I would make it just because I had flat beer! LOL

If you have flat beer - I say go for it! I have been thinking about making beer soap for almost a year, but I just can't bring myself to let my beer go flat!

I tried it once but it wasn't a big seller for me. I didn't scent it though so that might have been the problem.

yes...good lather (just going by what I purchased from a seller and used). I just made my first batch of beer soap last week and can't wait to use it!

Ah yes...the waiting...I'm not very good at that.

i just used my regular recipe and sub the water for beer. turned out get for me.

Ok, I made the beer soap tonight. WOW! The base was lard, olive, coconut, canola, cocoa butter, and castor. I used sorghum gluten-free beer (very, very flat and chilled) and added honey and a citrus essential oil blend (with lemongrass to anchor) at trace. The smell was so good my husband walked in and asked if he could eat my soap. Too bad we have to wait to use it! I'll probably make this again just to smell it again. I did learn that honey beer soap gets HOT and does not need insulation.

lol Dave, I agree, what a waste of perfectly good brew! But seriously, I've thought of trying it out too. I had a request from one of my friends to make soap out of whisky. That's right, whisky. He's really into whisky. I told him I wasn't sure how to do it and haven't even though about it until reading your posts on here about the beer and wine soap. Do you guys think it's even possible? I had read somewhere that a spot in Scotland or maybe Ireland makes it, but I believe they add it at trace or something and do a water discount with their lye solution. I can't remember. You think it would be okay to substitute the lye solution water with whisky?

I would not add whiskey to soap. It will make your soap seize and you will end up with a soap on a stick.

Would it be possible to add it at trace as an additive do you think? What if I cooked the whisky down to try and remove some of the alcohol?
