Not to be argumentative, But....like I said, IF it is truly an Essential oil then it will be the same. EO's from the same plant are the same. When you adulterate an EO, it is no longer an essential oil. While I suppose there could be disreputable/dishonest companies, I have not had that experience (in so far as EO's), but it is always good policy to exercise caution when choosing a supplier.
That being said, if you are unsure as to whether or not the EO is adulterated, then it would not make a difference if you called the company and asked them about it or not. Anyone that would adulterate it to begin with, certainly would not suddenly admit to it when you called them. So if you are not trusting the supplier, you shouldn't be using their product in your recipes at all, but especially not in lip balms.
