Teach Soap

Well, it took nearly a year for DaveW to rub off on me with his soap making but I finally had to try for myself (with his supervision). I must say, the lye was scary but, I watched Soapqueen's video and DaveW watched me! and its not so bad. Big thing I noticed was the scale measuring and check it twice. He caught me on Coconut Oil which I was off by 0.2 and he let me know too. He was very reassuring and I was impressed on how far he has come since his first batch which I attribute to his eagerness to learn and this forum willing to share knowledge. He is into solid colored bars - I like design color swirls...... I did the Cool Water FO with his recipe and a pretty Pool Blue colorant for my swirl. The trace was nice and the FO reacted really well. I will post some pics tomorrow after I cut the bars. Also, the video on Lye Safety was nicely done and very informative - thank you.

OK - first batch set up nicely and the fragrance is wonderful. I will need to hunt around in here on the how-to of swirling - not very happy with mine. I do like the color of Pool Blue. Now I see why DaveW decided not to pursue further swirling techniques. And now I see how the addiction happens.....I will have to do another batch to get my swirl better
