I wish for slice mold. I love making loaf soaps, but I hate cutting the darn things! I can never get it right and my bars come out all wonky. If I had a mold that was like a loaf, but individual slices, I would be a very happy camper! Think something that would look like an ice cube tray.

Does this exist?

Yes there is! I use this mold the most often:
and I love it. It makes perfect squares.

That looks good, and I might actually get it..but I was thinking something that is more loaf-like. The 'slices' would be vertical so you could still do swirls, layers, etc but not have to cut up a loaf when you are done.

I do swirls in this mold and it works out well. I don't know of another mold that is more vertical. Here's an example:

If you find one though that you like please post. I would be very interested!

Those are beautiful! I've thought about finding a bunch of non-serrated edge knives at the flea market and mounting them in a wooden frame to slice M&P loaves with, but...in the meantime I just use a cutting board I have marked out like a ruler to measure slice size. Make sure you work on a low surface like a table not your kitchen counter - you need to be able to be above the loaf so you can push down squarely.

If you have a miter box, it makes slicing a loaf mold very easy. I just marked 1 inch from the straight cut and place the end of my soap log even with the mark and then slice through with my knife. The scores in the box keep your knife straight. Perfect slices every time. :P

The only molds that I have seen like that are popsicle molds. They have some simply shapes ones that don't scream 'popsicle' but I am wondering how you would get the soap out.....?

Here are some plain ones that have a nice shape....

Those look good, but you would never get the soap out! I have a hard enough time with plastic soap molds!

I love the wooden molds on BB and the plastic ones where the bars a laying down instead of a log you slice. One of the first molds I bought was laying down bars but it didn't have dividers. It kind of had indentations to show you where to slice. Anyway. I hated it. How do you keep ash from accumulating on the top? After spending about $100 on molds I got mad and made myself a 3 LB wooden loaf mold. I find making liners relaxing so that is no big deal to me. Now today I did get my first silicone mold in the mail.We will see.

I do love my silicone loaf molds ($4 at goodwill!!) I just hate cutting them up. I'll try a miter box and see if that helps any.

For wooden loaf molds you could make wooden dividers for each bar. Of course if you're making a lot of soap at a time, that might be a lot of work.
