Teach Soap

tonight i made my first batch of beer soap. i had started preparing on sunday by opening the beer. this morning i boiled it and then stuck i the fridge to get cold and slushy. and yall were right when you mix the lye with the beer, UGH it STINKS!! i cant get the smell out of my nostrils. i almost mess up and forgot my shea butter, but i caught it just in time. i mixed everything at 100 degrees. used bb oatmeal stout fo. and stuck it in the fridge. it did get thick super fast so i hope i did everything right. cant wait to see how it turns out! i will try to wait patiently but im not very good at that.

SB, because i have never not gelled when do i take it out of the fridge and unmold it?

WTG! Congrats! I still have not made beer soap, but since I hate the smell and taste of beer in general, I can imagine really hating the smell of stinky beer/lye Make sure you post some pictures!

Beer soap is actually quite nice Lavenderlady. The beer scent goes away and you end up with a faint, sweet hop smell. It's quite pleasant. The natural sugars of the beer add to the lather.

It's a good seller for me. Sort of a novelty for guys.

so its still zapping, is that cause it didnt gel, and takes longer to complete the saponification process?

congrats! beer soap is on my to-do list. I'm using up the last of my beers soaps that I purchased online. They don't have any added scent...they smell just like soapbuddy described-faint, sweet hop smell...and nice lather too! :0)

You all have made me think that I just may have to swipe a beer from my kids fridge and try this!

im not sure i like the FO i used. its really much sweeter than i thought it would be. and i did not use the full amount. it has filled my entire house, and im starting to get a headache.
