Hello!

So, I think I have a silly question.. my apologies if this is not the right place or is a rather newbie questions. :oops:

When weighing out your ingredients for a 5 or 10 lb batch, is the water included in that, or is that only the weight of your oils?

Since the water eventually (mostly) evaporates out of the soap, I don't figure it into the weight of my batches. A 5 lb. batch of soap uses 80 oz. of oils for me.

And don't worry about questions, it's what we're all here for, to learn from each other's experience.

Thanks, Cactuscat! That helps me out a lot. The recipe I was thinking of seems pretty benign.. maybe you all can review it for me.

30% Avocado Oil
30 % Coconut Oil
40% Olive Oil

I haven't completely decided on scents or additives yet, but have some nice exfolient I might use as an additive.

The question is - why do you ask that question?
Are you trying to fill a specific mold?
It may make a difference if you use just the oil weight.
