Hi Everyone! 1st time poster long time lurker here. I just made my 3rd batch of soap last night. Most of my newbie questions can be answered by searching the boards, but I just couldn't find anything about this. Maybe I just don't know what it is technically called! I decided that I wanted to try CPOP so I mixed and swirled and everything looked OK until I took it out of the oven this morning and it was seriously messed up looking. I cut off all of the sides and the bottom and you can see what I was left with. Looks fine now, and I hope that it will still be OK! Just as a reference I used Anne-Marie's recipe from the beginners video series she made. I used TKB pop Micas and I used Blackberry Sage FO. I combined the oils and lye water at around 110. So tonight when the kids went to bed I decided to try again with a different recipe. I used soap calc and got the recipe below. What I have in the oven is quite literally a hot mess. I used Raspberry Pop Mica from TKB and Sun Ripened Raspberry FO from BB. It accelerated trace (just like it said). I glopped it in my silicone loaf mold (too new to spring for a fancy wood one!) and as I watched it in the oven I could see it fade from pretty raspberry pink to baby pink and finally to sickly yellow pink. Sigh. Is the oven just messing things up for me? I will take any wisdom anyone can throw my way. I think next week I will try just straight up CP. If anyone has a better recipe I could try I would love to hear it as well. I am a lotion lip gloss, lip balm, and lipstick maker, so I have a nice variety of oils and butters on hand. I am learning that CP soap has quite the learning curve!
Thanks! Stacey
