Teach Soap

A year or two ago, I came across massage oil soy candles at Lover's Package and just had to buy one. What a cool idea! However, after a couple of times using it, the wick started dropping charred black debris and it pretty much ruined any possibility for using the oils in the candle. Now that I'm thinking of making some of these candles myself, I'm wondering whether this is just a matter of getting quality wicks? I will probably forego the whole project if the candles will only be good for two or three uses.

My insurance will not cover me if I make these massage candles. Too high of a liability issues like burning someone's skin I was told. So I won't make them as they could be a safety issue. I hope this massage candle business would go away as there are other alternatives available for couples that doesn't include melted wax, are better and they can still have a lot of fun.

I am into wax tarts that you melt in an electric warmer these days. Warmer is from Scentsy, but I make the tarts to burn myself. That may work. I don't find the wax gets too warm, that you couldn't use it for a massage oil.

Soapbuddy, I got suckard into a Scenty Party and bought one. I quite like it even though it was expensive.

I am also using a Lampe Berge (sp) in my home. Its really expensive, but its lovely and quickly clears the air of any cooking/other odours in the home.

Soapbuddy, does it also "clean" the air? I cook alot and am in a small space and always looking for ways to eliminate cooking odours. I live in Canada and we are in the depth of winter, so opening windows is not an option.

I'm actually making massage candles, and the soy wax I use is golden wax, it's skin safe and kosher.
I add to my candles sweet almond oil and cocoa butter, also shea butter. with the bulk being oils to the ratio of soy wax, as Anne Marie says on her soap queen blog, the oils don't get scorching hot, the cocoa and shea cool down the wax if anything..
And for the critics, here is a photo from my thermometre in celcius 28.0 - 29.0 degrees, which is burning 7 degrees cooler then the human bodies temperature..

when you are making your massage candles, don't use any colour. Check your oils with your supplier to make sure they re skin safe or just use essential oils. Remember, you are responsible for exact instructions on safety with the candles.

Look up the tutorial on you tube for soap queen's massage candles.

I suppose there are additional issues with selling them, but for personal use I'm sure they are safe enough. Did you use Anne Marie's recipe or are these tweaks of your own? I'm an unscented person and don't need color for this so I'm not concerned about those issues. I could use a little luxury this week.
