Teach Soap

I was wondering for those of you who have been at this awhile or even those who havent, how complex is your main recipe? 4 oils, 5, 8? You dont have to share the oils, unless you want. Mine has 5 but Im thinking of adding more, just wanted a little input.

7 total oils/butters not including beeswax. But I get a lot of excess supplies from a cousin who owns a grocery store so I don't have pay for them. I just try to make use of everything I'm given.

I use 5 oils.

Mine average 4 oils and one butter

My recipe has gradually increased to 6 oils/waxes.

I was wondering recently whether I should weigh out my ingredients for a batch, melt them and then store them in advance to save a bit of time on soapmaking day. Does anyone do this?

My go to reciepe is 4 oils and 1 butter. And if at all possible I will use part milk of some sort.

Soapbuddy.....what you're proposing is illegal in many states. But I do it for batches that are 3 lbs or less.

I do this also. I have recipes that include cocoa butter, shea, beeswax, ect. I pre-weigh them and melt them in a silicon mold made for cupcakes (cupcakes are like brownies....only smaller) and melt them then allow to harden. I keep these little butter cupcakes in a tupperware container knowing that they contain 2 or 3 of the butters needed. It's a small timesaver. But it's a way to do soapstuff without doing soapstuff.
