i just need to confirm, i take, length x width x height then multiply by .24 right?

I don't mean to glib but isn't that quote you have on your signature line from Aristotle. I think it is but I may be mistaken.

citymouse - I should have added that that formula only works for rectangular molds.

And SuperSoaper - that quote isn't one of my favorites, but it fits me lately.

It would work for square molds also. Since the 3 measurments are different, the shape has to be rectangular.

This stuff makes me climb the walls.

No worries, they are rectangular, although i just realized that i can plug the dimensions into the soapmaker software and it will calculate it for me. YAY! but i still like to know how to do it myself so my brain doesn't go all mushy with dis-use.

If you go to Summer Bee Meadow lye calc and input your recipe there, at the bottom there is space where you input the size of your mold, then hit recalculate. It will give you how much oils and liquid you will need for that size batch.

i just used the Summer Bee cal and I have a question for anyone who could help, I have a 2 lb mold from BB and normally when I make a batch I have left over that I put in a lined small tupperwear. But Im getting low on supplies (just place my order) and I think I only have enough for an exact batch. My question is the SB calculator resized my batch to be 1lb 14.93oz, that just shy of 2lbs so how accurate do you think it is, I want to make sure I make enough to fill the mold to the top but not have any left over.

If you want to check the accuracy, measure the inside dimensions of your mold in inches, length X width X depth, then multiply that number X .4 - I check each of my molds and use a write the capacity of each of them in Sharpie ink on the outside of the mold.

If you want to post the exact dimensions, I'm sure we can help you figure it out to the 100th of a pound.
