I have been trying to mix a red mica into a clear m&p base and it never comes out the red. It usually ends up being orange with specs of red in my soap. What can I do to stablize my red. I tried mixing a little read and fragrance and then adding to the base still same thing. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried premixing the red in a small amount of glycerin? With that said, some red micas are blue reds and some are more orange reds? Where did you get this mica? How clear is your base? If it has a yellow tone, you're going to have a hard time getting a true red.

I have not tried mixing in a small amount of glycerin. The base does have a slight yellow hue. But why after I pour it does it have like some bright red specs. I will try a red rmica from another vendor.

I thought I was bonkers cause I keep having the same problem! I've been using the red mica from brambleberry, and a lot of the time it will end up more orange. I really like their non-bleeding liquid red, but it was out of stock until further notice. Just as a note since I've been living in this red hell as well, the red brick oxide is more a brown red. If you find something that is a bright V-day red, let me know!!

Well, you would have to buy the whole set, but BB does carry SoapyLove's Jewel Box colorants. It comes with red, fuchsia, turquoise, yellow and some glitter. Each color is 20ml. The red is definitely a V-day red!

I almost bought it recently, but then realized the colors could bleed & I try and stick with non-bleeding colors. Thanks for the recommendation though :D

Merlot mica is gorgeous in it's own right too.
