Teach Soap

I always have a hard time getting the greasy residue off my tools and utensils after making soap. My dish liquid doesn't seem to be cutting it . . . literally. Is there a better way to clean up the leftover mess after making soap? Something I can add to my dishwater?

I was always told, lots of hot soapy water.

Dawn seems to work pretty well for me for the most part.

Get some reviews on good dish-soaps, and find what's best for you.

try rinsing everything in white vinegar after it's washed. sometimes that helps cut through the grease as well.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

If you don't need your pot or utensils right away, if you wait til the bext day, it will all be soap, which you can wash off.

I have learned to wash mine the next day or at least hours later too. We live in the country and I have cause some major plumbing issues (not once but twice) due to the oil and wax that I use. The last time I did this it involved a backhoe! Now I let it sit or the next time DH may shut me down.

Yikes! That's scary about the plumbing issues. I have a cat who sometimes jumps up on my counters when I'm not home so I'm a little afraid to let my equipment sit for 24 hours but, then again, I don't want to do anything that will cause problems with my plumbing.

Maybe I could try to cover the dirty equipment with something in case the cat does get up on the counter. . .

My cat will jump on the counters too, but never on the stove~ smart cat. so I pile everything in the big stainless steel pot, put it on the stove, and then put a pretty towel over it.

then I wash it all out later or the next day using a bar of my 'kitchen soap' I made, just make a thick lather and rub that all over the equipment then rinse off.

After I get done soaping, I take paper towels and wipe the raw soap off the bowls and utensils. Then I put them in a closet and take them out the next day to wash.

You could put them all in a plastic bag and set them aside for a day then wash them up.

Great ideas, everyone! And I'm glad I heard about all the greasy, oily stuff possibly causing drain issues. I don't want a backhoe coming in and tearing up my climbing roses and costing me a ton of money. I'm already broke from my new soaping obsession
