Hey all-been a while! I tried doing my GM soap differently the other day (why? as always to try and save time) I mixed the GM powder with 6 oz of the water called for in my recipe, made a slurry/paste and added at trace. It seemed to come to trace quickly and got pretty thick when I added the GM paste-but poured into mold fine.
Here's my recipe (worked it on the MMS lye calculator) Sweet Almond oil-10oz Castor oil 10oz Coconut oil 76 degree 10oz Palm oil 10oz Sunflower oil 30oz
Total weight of oils 70oz used 26 oz water (6 of which were used at trace with the GM powder) 9.97oz lye
2oz fragrance
Checked after 14 hours, and there was oil/liquid that had leaked out of the mold. I opened it up and it was just sopping with this excess liquid. I cut through the center, and it was fine. So I cleaned it up and wrapped in towels used for soap making (still has the freezer paper liner around it and let it sit. What happened? Excess oils/fats is my first guess-not enough lye for all the GM fats?? Has anyone tried to do it this way and had similar results? Soap will be fine, but what a mess!!!
