Teach Soap

Well I'm looking at a mold that is made of HIPS. I have no idea what this material is and will google it soon.

My question is would this material it be suitable for CP soap?

HIPS is high impact polysterene. It's a low cost plastic material. Depending on the strength, it might not be suitable for soapmaking as it could warp at higher temperatures.

ask Mr Pittsburg. He gave me a who lecture on using it and got one for me to use. it works ok.

no not me. Mr Pittsburgh is supersoaps. he was voted most eligible bachelor there a couple years ago so his friends call him that. he can tell you all about them. i just used mine a couple times. it works ok but I like loaf mold better.

Yes, I have several HIPS molds and use them only for cold process and CPOP although I have not used them for Melt&Pour. I have 2 of them I use extensively for the past 2 years, a 9 bar and a 12 bar. Neither show any signs of warpage and they are holding up very well and I find them quite easy to use. When I CPOP, the oven is set at 200, when the temp is reached the oven is turned off and the soap with mold is put into the oven overnight. They are holding up very well. I teach local (mostly housewives) how to make soap about once or twice a year. A few years ago I purchased about 8 or 9 of the 9 bar molds to give to the women who signed up for the class. As far as I know, they are still using them and are pleased. And thank you Celeste for sharing my personal information on a public forum. Silly.

I still am using mine but not all the time now. i do the same thing and put it in a warm oven and it cleans nice also if you just put it in the dishwasher afterwards for cleanup. sometimes the deviders are a little hard to pull out but i got some pliers that make it a lot easier. it worked ok for m/p but i put it in the freezer and the deviders came out very easy. in all I like mine but just have my preference for the loaf mold.
