Thank you sapa!! :)

I have the Soapylove book, and eZines, too. You can get them at my site: www.soapylove.com, or Bramble Berry carries them all, too! :)
http://www.brambleberry.com/Soapylove-S ... P4549.aspx
http://www.brambleberry.com/E-Book-C267.aspx Look for "Let's Get Soapy"

If you don't live in the US, and want to order my book, then you should order from soapylove.com since I will ship internationally.
Thank you!

I really want to make some funky soaps using water soluble paper. My only concern is that the image would wash away very quickly once someone started using it. Any thoughts on that? I guess if I really wanted to, I could layer it a few times through the soap. (Which might create an interesting effect anyway). Do you just accept that the image will wash away fast, or does it last longer than I expect?

P.S. Your soaps are very pretty, and inspiring SoapyLove! :)

Thank you for the compliment, Magia! :)

Regarding the paper, you will be very impressed by how long the image lasts. It dissolves, but slower than the soap does, so it takes quite a while for the image to start breaking down - many, many uses.

I like to create a hardened layer of clear in the mold before I add the paper. This makes sure the paper won't peel out quickly if put into the very first layer when you pour. Hope that helps!

Ok, I'll try that. I'm thinking of using some iconic images like Audrey Hepburn, James Bond, Marylin Monroe, The A Team, Einstein sticking his tongue out, Resovoir Dogs that kind of thing. I reckon it will look ace. :)

Does it come off in chunks when it does disolves? Or does it soak into the soap enough that it just washes away normally?

Also... pretty pretty please could you tell us how to do the soap with the flames which is on your flickr page? I SOOO want to know how to do that! xxx

Hi Magia!
It comes off pretty gradually but does look like paper, so it's not super duper pretty. Totally worth it, though!

Regarding the flame soap, you will have to buy the book! :)

Is this the same one? I'm in the UK, so would prefer not to pay extra tax and postage and things if I can get it here!

I was thinking of using images that have already been widely copied and reproduced. Things like the Audrey Hepburn Breakfast At Tiffany's image, with the pearls and the cigarette holder have been reproduced a million times by lots of companies and individuals. I guess I should steer away from things still in production or more recent though, (despite how amazing some of the images from Sin City would look) as people get pickier about that. (Hmph, there goes my idea for soap with the BSG logo on, but then I guess there would be a limited market for that anyway!)
