Do most people use lab colors concentrate and add it by the drop or do they dilute and follow the prodedure that comes with the colors? I have diluted them and I am starting to think this wasn't such a good idea. One in particular I have to add quite a bit of the diluted color to get the color I want.

Good question - I was wondering the same thing. I haven't used them yet, but they are on my wish list from Brambleberry!

I add mine drop by drop. I don't dilute. That's my preference. I would email Anne-Marie or her staff and ask.

I use labcolors when I can't achieve the color I want by natural methods. I have followed the instructions on the website about dilutions and haven't had any problems. You don't get the "over-the-top" vibrant colors like you do from micas. I find labcolors to be a more dull opaque than something like the mica ultra marine blue. Each small bottle of concentrated lab color makes 10 oz, according to the website. I've mixed them with about 8 oz and have been pleased with the results. I use the disposable droppers and measure out cc's into an erlenmeyer flask then dump it all at once when I'm at a thin trace. Remember if you're using EVOO or a dark green oil that it's going to affect your final color.

I dilute my lab colors because some concentrate will give you spotty color result if you don't dilute ahead of time. But I did it in much less water than instructed on BB, 10 ml concentrate into approx. 2 oz of warm distilled water. That way I don't need to add as much to get to the shade I need.

I love LabColors. I dilute mine in about 7oz of water, when I dilute mine I add the color to the water that is heated to about 140degrees, it helps to mix the color. I also make sure to shake up my jar that I keep it in. If you dont use a preservative, then you need to store them in the fridge. I add about 1 tbs of the diluted color per pound of soap

I have so far just been coloring my soaps naturally. I plan on purchasing some colors from BB this week. What would you recommend that I start with, lab colors or micas? Have been unsure of which route to go!
