Teach Soap

Hello everyone! I'm in the planning stages of my soapbusiness and I have quite a few questions. First, I'm trying to see if its legal to make and sell soap out of my home. I called my cityhall and they have'nt gotten back with me yet, nobody seems to know Can anyone help me out with this? Second, trademark names like Natural, or Organic. Is it hard to get these seals to see your product? Does anyone know about the trademark legalities. Is it hard to get these seals like "Natural" products? More questions to come about soapmaking.

Do you have a State Board of Equalization in your state? If not, you might be able to find it online. There, you might find info on having a business and making products in your home. Here, I need a business license, a resale license and liability insurance. I did have someone come to my home to inspect it. I would go to your city hall instead of just calling. Go to their licensing dept. and they might be able to give you more info.

You can't trademark the words "natural" or "organic" as they are too common. As far as certification seals for your products it's VERY expensive; beyond most of us as small time businesses.
