I've just made my first few batches of M+P and am still learning a lot about the process.

One thing I have noticed it that the soap I have made with the basic white base (from aussie soap supplies) does not last too long in the shower. It went very soft quite quickly and is now more of a body butter consistency! The soap I made from the clear base seems to have stayed harder.

So I guess my questions are:
- are there soap bases that produce a 'harder' soap than others?
- is there something I am doing wrong when making the soap?
- is there anything you can add to make a longer lasting soap (without sacrificing lather)?
- should I be taking the soap out of the bathroom to 'dry' between uses (but I don't think I will remember to do that!)

Any advice would be much appreciated.

BTW I appreciate the responses to my previous posts, If I had taken a few minutes to 'search' the forum I would have seen that many of my questions had been answered before. I appreciate your patience!

It is best if you can let it dry between uses. I find between CP and MP, my MP doesn't last as long as CP. It also depends on the ingredients in the base.

Helps to have a soap dish that allows the soap to dry in between uses. Not letting it sit in a puddle of water.

Hi SassyK - M & P definitely needs to sit on one of those soap dishes that has the grooves in the bottom so that it doesn't turn into soap soup! I've got an inexpensive one from Spotlight and sat it on the rack in the shower. If you let it drain between uses it lasts almost as long as the commercial soaps!
