Well I've been searching for recipes for cold processed baby type soaps. I can find loads of acne and gentle but nothing specific to babies. Might you have found a link you would share?

I searched and looked at the teach soap and many other spots. Would you give me a link to a recipe I might rearrange for my needs when it comes to baby soap?

Yes I know they don't need soap the first few months, but later it will become important, and for shower gifts it would be fun. Or it would be fun to give as baby shower prizes or even favors.

TIA

Castille or 100% pure olive is the most gentle for babies.

Thank you SB for that information! Would you suggest for a SF percentage for the castille?

Thank you soapbuddy you are always so full of information to share! I know it is appreciated.

Has anyone else tried doing a soap for infants? Seems there is a new baby soon to be, so I thought this might be a hot topic!

I do make a baby soap... actually for people over the age of 6 months. It is mostly olive oil, some cocoa butter and 1% of beeswax. NO fragrance or coloring. No additives, although I have considered jojoba beads but not tried them. The comments on this soap, used by family has come back very positive and I will need to make another batch very soon.

Thanks bubbles. May I ask what the beeswax adds to your soaps?

I had this idea that olive oil would make a very soft soap, don't know if that is true?, so I added the beeswax as a firming agent. I may try my next batch without it, because the cocoa butter is a hard butter. If I was to use mango butter I think I would stay with the beeswax. I do stay away from shea butter, it belongs to the nut family and there can be cross allergies to this! At least for toddles and children I do. I also make sure the parents know that it is not 'tear free' and to get that quality it would have to be a ph altered synthetic detergent.

Happy New Year Mella, biggest problem I have run into with children’s soaps is while playing in the bath it stings their eyes. It is mild on their skin, but not matter how mild I make it my 18 month old and 3 years old grandchildren get it in their eyes and it really burns. We now only use it for hand soap for them.

Hi Selena and Happy 2011 too!

Yes I know care would have to be taken. Perhaps it will be just for me!

Soapbuddy. Would goat's milk castile be better for babies instead of water? Perhaps aloe?? I don't know for sure (sorry, no baby experience)....just throwing out ideas.
