Can I use E-Wax in a lip balm instead of beeswax? Is it GRAS for lips?

I saw BB's recent newsletter with a recipe for a general overal body balm and was wondering if I could firm that up a bit, add a flavoring, and put it in pots to be used as a lip balm. That recipe says that it firms up as it cools so maybe I don't even need any wax? I'm not planning to put them in tubes.

Unless the vendor can assure you that it's GRAS, I would not use it in a lip balm, since it would be licked off and ingested. If you don't want to use beeswax, you can use carnauba, candelilla or soy wax. These have different hardness factors, so you would need to experiment. Carnauba and Candelilla are harder, soy wax is softer than beeswax.

Thank you.
I was only thinking e-wax because i have a bunch of it that I got from columbus foods.
I have nothing against beeswax except that i don't have any on hand.

I would save your e-wax for lotions or creams.
