I bought a box of soap on vacation and LOVED the scent. The soap fragrance is Lavender Chamomile and it's made by a company called Greenwich Bay Trading Company (GBT) in the Carolinas. I called this company when I got back home to see if I could purchase their soaps in my area. They said no. I asked them where they purchased the Lavender Chamomile fragrance in their soap but they wouldn't tell me.

Is anyone out there familiar with Greenwich Bay Trading Company? If so, do you know what company they purchase their Lavender Chamomile fragrance from? I would love to get hold of some of this FO so I could use it in my soap. I am a brand new soaper who hasn't even made her first batch of CP yet and I don't sell soap so I'm not competition for GBT. I just really, really like this fragrance and I'd like to find it to put in my own soap.

Here's a link to the Lavender Chamomile soap I'm talking about: http://www.gbsoaps.com/Retail/Spa/Spa_Soaps.html

Some places just mix different fragrances together to get a nice scent.

So if you bought, a lavender fragrance, and a chamomile fragrance, and mixed them together to get the perfect blend, then you could use that as your scent.

I've made some interesting mixtures. One I liked was Mint with just a touch of cucumber melon. It had a minty smell, with an undertone of cucumber. Really nice.

One smell I really liked was Kiwi + Starfruit. That is a nice blend.

If you want to invent your own scent, Just smell bottles together. And to know if you want more or less of one, simple pull one bottle further from your nose than the other.
When I made soap with my sister, she created her own fragrance for her soap, it was pretty nice.

Try a drop of Lavender on one q-tip and a drop of Chamomile on another q-tip. Put them together and see if you like it. BrambleBerry also sells the Huggies type fragrance oil and that smells like Lavender & Chamomile to me.

I am brand new to soap making and haven't even made my first batch of CP yet so I don't know how good I would be at mixing fragrances. Plus the one in this particular soap seems to have an additional quality that I can't quite put my finger on. It smells clean and almost baby powdery.

Here is a link to the Huggies type fragrance. Evidently you need to order 10 pounds?

Midnightstorm, if you did not want to order 10# there have been times when BB will post on the forum and collect a list of people to divide up the 10#. So if everyone wants 1# you only need to get 10 people to join in. That is how I got my pink sugar (and love it in M+P). So if you are wanting to try this why not ask?

Hi, Midnightstorm,

Looks like GBT's Lavender Chamomile soap is made with essential oils. I hate to steer business away from Bramble Berry on their own forum, but if they don't have what you need (or you don't want to order 10 pounds of the Huggies-type FO), here's a Lavender Chamomile FO that may work for you from another supplier: http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Bedt ... r-996.html

I'm assuming you're looking for an FO instead of EOs so you don't have to create a blend. I've used this FO and I like it. It kinda smells like baby lotion or baby powder to me.

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks for the link. This is such a helpful forum! I don't understand why that BB fragrance would only come in such a large size. And why does it have such an odd name, 'Huggies', like the diaper? I think I'd want to smell it before I would consider going in on a purchase with others. If a fragrance has even one note of something I don't care for, then I tend to have a strong dislike of the fragrance as a whole. That's why I fell in love with the fragrance of the Lavender Chamomile soap from that one company - it was a perfect scent that I absolutely loved and couldn't get enough of.

I tried to order a sample of the Huggies fragrance from BB but they said they didn't have it in a sample size.

I am still trying to gather all the supplies needed for CP soapmaking. The goggles are the last thing left that I still need to get and I'm thinking of stopping at a hardware store on my way home tonight to pick up a pair. I've spent a lot of money and time trying to get everything together and I'm anxious to get started.

Does anyone know why some fragrances only come in large quantities? If you go in together with other soapers to buy the large quantities, how does the fragrance get divided amongst the soapers? And why doesn't BB offer the sniffer/sniffy samples that some companies offer? I am thinking of ordering some of those samples from another company so that I can find which fragrances I might like to use in the future (assuming I can figure out how to do the CP in the first place).

Thanks!

I am fairly sure they do offer sniffy samples... just take a look on the web site. I have never ordered them because I have such a poor sense of smell and plus the scent can change in CP soap. I do better by asking for advise or recommendations on this forum. As for the larger quantities I can only speculate that the larger amt is what they need to purchase and it does not have a big turn around time. By going in on a divide that is how I got my pink sugar and I just love it! I know its hard at first wanting to get all of the scents just right but give it some time and you will come up with some all time favorites. I have!
