Teach Soap

Hi! Newbie here! I've been reading up on soap making and watching videos, and I'm super excited to make my first batch of M&P soap! I'm using BB's Goats Milk base and peppermint EO. I plan to take some pics and/or videos of my experience (whoo, hoo, right? ). If they're worth seeing, I'll share them.

I plan to move into CP soaps at some point later, but wanted to get my feet wet first with MP. Plus, if I'm going to give my soaps as holiday gifts, I don't have time for the CP soaps to cure.

Welcome! Best of luck to you, you'll do just fine. Just remember to check BB's fragrance calculator to get the right amount of EO in your soap, too much can leave a tingly feeling and that's not always a good thing.

Just finished pouring into the molds. I used 1 tsp for 1 pound of peppermint 1st distillation EO, as recommended by BB's calculator. The whole process actually went pretty easy and quick!

I did notice that I need to be quicker about pouring once I've mixed my fragrance into the soap and it starts to cool, since it started firming up around the edges of the container, and I think I saw some lumps go into the mold as I poured. Will that make any difference in the final product?

So, now....how do I clean up my utensils??? How do get the cooled and firmed soap off my pyrex dish and stainless steel spoon?

Just soak your utensils or cups with some water and the soap will melt or come off.
