Teach Soap

Hi.
I'm new to the forum. Don't know if my question is kinda dumb but please help me.
I will make my first batches of soap this weekend. I've been gathering materials to make a palm + coconut + olive batch.
I can't find liquid palm oil anywhere.
I've searched and only found in the shortening aisle a white and hard product whose label said 100% palm oil. Is this shortening palm oil?
I ask this because I've read that palm oil should be a creamy like substance or if its refined, bleached and deodorized it should be a liquid oil. So I don't know if I should trust this label and believe that this hard white shortening is 100% palm oil. Anyone else heard of this product? Can I use it as palm oil in my recipe?

My palm oil is white and fairly hard. I would say you should be ok.

Thanks for replying! if it's good for you it's good for me.
But I still have a doubt, I don't have the link right now of the site where I read that the palm oil should be liquid (I'll try to get it ASAP).....are they right or not?

Oh btw, it says in the label that this palm oil shortening has tbhq and other antioxidants. Do these antioxidants survive the saponification?

what? An ingredient that prevents foaming? What's the name of that ingredient?
This shortening says: BHA, BHT and TBHQ as antioxidants at 0.01% max

If this wiki page is correct then you should be fine. According to this, unrefined palm is red and semi-solid at room temp.

I always buy refined, bleached palm. I live on the East coast and this time of year mine is always off-white to white and solid. Other times of the year it is more of a slurry and always needs to be stirred. Rarely is it pure liquid.

I'll be on the lookout for this dimethylpolysiloxane in the labels. I'll have to trust the shortening I bought because it doesn't list the anti-foaming agent.
