Teach Soap

Well I need to ditch a lye heavy batch of soap and am wondering how to handle this.

How do you dispose of a bad batch of cold processed soap that is lye heavy due to palm oil issues?

I wish I could help you, but I've never had to throw a batch out. I've always been able to rebatch it. I suppose my best advice would be to call your local trash company and ask them how to handle it. They would probably be the best ones to ask, if in fact you can just "throw it out"

Ok, I am going to give my opinion on this matter. YES, you can throw a bad batch into the trash. Why? Sodium hydroxide is the main ingredient used in drain openers which means it gets put into our sewer systems on a daily basis without problems, I actually use NaoH to clean my home drains out regularly so why not put a bad batch into the trash? It's not classified as toxic waste (at least here in NYC, where the trash is literally opened and monitored).

Sorry, I just saw the "palm oil issues" comment and was not sure what you meant by that. Would be happy to learn more
