Teach Soap

Ok been making soap for about 3 to 4 years now and have made countless batches with no lye issues. Today while making soap I dropped my stick blender into the just poured lye and oil solution and it really splashed all over me! Thank God I was wearing long gloves, googles and rain slicker. The only reason I was wearing all that is because the new stick blender I was using has way too much power for the recipe amount I was making so I geared up I never wear long gloves, googles or a rain slicker now that I have done this so many times without issue. Just a reminder to always keep on our toes!

I'm sorry it splashed on you. This is a good reminder to always wear safety gear and clothing with long sleeves, long pants, closed toe shoes and goggles.

Yep, just had a similar experience last night. I've made hundreds of batches in the last 3 years and had my first raw soap splatter. Not a new stickblender here, but a new pot--with lower edges.

Respect the lye folks!

Hubby and the kids found me standing in the kitchen in my panties one morning after a soaping mishap! The traced soap had somehow splattered all down the front of my pj pants so in a panic I stripped them off.

ok, I know the feeling. Thankfully it didn't soak through to you. But the picture you painted is too funny. My family after getting over the shock of me in my skivvies, would be on the floor laughing and I'd probably be joining them!

Yes the kids had a good laugh. Hubby thought it was his lucky day:-)
