Hey everyone decided to try a CP no gel & put my pour into the fridge over nite instead of insulating
OMG the texture.....to die for ! Just as others have said velvety, silky smooth, creamy soft.
I think this is my perferred method even though you have to let it sit for 6 weeks , the finished product will be worth it.
Also this batch is my first swirl ( not sure if I like it or not) & I added some sugar to my lye water to see if I get better suds than with added castor oil.

Congrats! That's the way most of my soaps are.

My husband just asked me if a heavily scented soap would leech into the food in the refrigerator. ? Would putting plastic wrap on top help with this?

Yes I tried one the other night too for the first time with swirl I made it room temp and just left out, did not gel. I have not cut it yet but it looks ok, can't wait to cut it when it gets a little harder.

OK, I've just got to ask...
Total newbie and my first-ever batch feels like this after 2 weeks cure time...hard bars with a very velvety, silky feel to them. I do notice a slight greasy feel at this stage, but that might just be because I did a 10% superfat. When I wash my hands after handling them, I get a nice "clean" feeling, followed by a very soothing, moisturized feeling.
I soaped at around 110, and then poured into a 4 lb log mold dammed off to 2 lbs, then put saran wrap over the top. I used one towel around it for insulation. Did I somehow NOT gel??
Just curious...can't wait until I can try them 4 weeks from now!!
Soaped again tonight with the same recipe, but used BB's Grass Stain FO. Thanks for all the clean-up advice...I felt much more confident about not killing our zoo of rescue animals!! I'm hoping the FO is going to morph into something that smells like freshly-mown grass...right now it smells like some sort of flowery perfume, UGH!
YAY...two batches down, and I think I'll try again tomorrow with BB's Blueberry Delight FO...I bought some blueberry seeds at the craft store to add a little interest, LOL!

Give those batches some time to mello out.

Soapbuddy, my bars are going to lose that "velvet" feel? Dang, and I was so proud, LOL! Hopefully they'll still be nice, though!

Ok, I know this question might sound strahge, but I'm still confused about "no gel" phase. This means no insulation right? Does it have to go into the refrigerator in order to not go through the gel phase? What is the advantage of the non-gel phase anyway? What temp should it be done at? Should the lye and oils be under a certain temp? If I don't have to put it in the fridge, how do I achieve non-gel phase? Wheeew, I know that's a lot, thanks!!
