Teach Soap

None of my soaps have cured yet but I have used the same simple starter receipe for all.
When I smell my fragrance oils from BB they smell lovely but after I unmold They smell like an old lady with stinky perfume & a fresh perm! eeeeeewwwwww!
I'm really hoping the lye smell fades completely over the next 4-6 weeks & that my basic recipe from the BB website is not Lye heavy....
Whats does your experiance say? Is the true pure fragrance not obvious until curing is complete?

There shouldn't be a lye smell after you're done with your soap. How much fragrance are you using per lb. of soap? Are you gelling?

yep gelling & using 1oz FO for 4.5 lbs of soap, I have to say when I used the same recipe & did not gel it seems to smell less. But I have a VERY sensitive nose & my husband tells me its faint & in the soap I did 1 week ago its not detectable to me or him. I may be overly sensitive to what is a normal trace after un molding.

1 oz. of FO for 4.5 lbs. of soap would not be enough for me. I use at least 0.75 oz. per lb. of soap.
