Hi! Everything I just typed was deleted, so I will try to make this short, because I just got frustrated lol
My name is christina and right now I make jewelry on Etsy. I've been reading all the soap queen blogs and some other stuff and I have to say I am really interested in a couple things...mainly.. Whipped Body Butter, MP Soap and Mineral Eyeshadow.
In the past I have made wreaths, candles, gift bags, jewelry and more.
I only have 25.00 to spend right now, which I know isn't much. I've priced things on Etsy and it seems the eye shadow has the best profit margin.
I would love to make MP soap though, because of all the frag choices and my ideas on packaging. (I draw out my ideas on soap just like I do my jewelry) I priced my soap ideas and having to purchase the mini amounts ..i would make...like nothing lol
So I guess my questions is, if you had very little money to start with...where would you start or would has sold best for you?

Welcome!
I would try one of BrambleBerry MP soap kits to get your feet wet. :)

Thank you for the link! I thought I had seen most things over there, I hadn't seen that section though. I will look through it tonight!
I hate liking so many things lol

I agree, I always recommend starting with a kit. It comes with all you need and directions.

Have fun! Let us know how it goes!

Hi bramble momma! Thank you for the reply. I looked at the kits and don't really see one that interests me right now. Probably because I already had a couple FO in my head I wanted to use. I'm thinking of ordering the Mineral Make up book and the ingredients for the eyeshadow found here
http://soap-queen.blogspot.com/2009/08/ ... hadow.html
With those colors of mica in the "recipe" above, I should probably be able to make more then the pumpkin color right?
I also had another question if anyone knows. If I choose to purchase just the mineral make up book, do you think I can email them and ask to send it differently (cheaper) like First class with Del conf or something. It's 8.00 to ship an 8.00 book. Although I probably will order mica with it too, just wanted to know if there is another shipping option if that's all I order.
Thank you :)

I was reading the ingredients in the Stephenson's soap bases in New Directions website. Did you know that this company has an anti freeze chemical in their soap base (Propylene Glycol)? They say their soap is made of 100% vegetable base, but how can this be. They have so many UN natural chemicals in it. After reading their list, I am soooo glad I stick with BB bases!

That's just scare mongering. I see this a lot on the net. Propylene glycol is used as a humectant and an emollient in cosmetic products. CIR Review indicates it is safe for use in cosmetic products at concentrations up to 50%.
People often get confused between ethylene glycol which is the ingredient in anti-freeze and which is poisonous, and propylene glycol which could be used as antifreeze because it has similar properties but isn't because it's more expensive, and which is OK for cosmetic and food uses. Just because the names sound similar doesn't mean that the chemicals react in the same way. Did you know that PG is used in a lot of dog food? So I would say anti-freeze is not used in any MP base.
