I recently ran across a video of a person putting their finished log of CP soap in their oven at 170 degrees for 2 hours and then letting it cool there until the next morning. The next day, the log was pulled out and fully cured. I have tried this with a few of my batches and it seems to work pretty great! Has anyone else ever tried this? Is this ok to do? Is there a name for this method :?:
Thanks,
SweetP

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that is HP soaping, I'm not 100% sure. I just recently started making HP soap; and the only difference between what your asking and my method, is that the person in the video put it in the mold, whereas I cooked it for about 1 hour at 170 degrees for the first 45 minutes and then hiked the oven up to 200 degrees fo another 15 minutes, in the ss pot waited until it got to the mashed potatoes aka applesauce stage and then added everything before I put it into the mold. After about 3 hours my soap was finished (ready to cut and be used). does that sound similar to the video?

I just read here that it does have a name called Cold process/Oven process. It works kinda the same way, but still needs at least a week to fully cure.

It might be safe to use after the cook, but I would still wait at least 4 weeks for a full cure. That way more water will evaporate and the soap will last longer in the shower.
