This morning I made a soap and used color for the first time. I used coconut, olive, and canola oils. I removed a portion and added about 2-4 tbls of purple mica to it. It looked amazing. Then I added the lye mix to the large batch of oils and mixed till trace. Then I added fragrance, then added the mica/oil mix and mixed them all together, but my color disapeared. I added a TON more mica and each time it disappeared. I was only making a 3lb mold, so the amount of mica I used should have been WAY more than enough. What happened?? I'm so bummed.

Some micas are not CP soap safe. Did you check the vendor's web site to see if it is?

Thanks soap buddy, I just went back to Brambleberry and check the discription and you're right, its not good for soaps. Bummer. Thanks. I thought I read everything when buying the items. Will be more careful next time. Learned a lesson.

There are some micas that turn out beautifully in CP soap though. I think that there is a list around somewhere on either Soap Queen or maybe on the BB site. Anyway, they all say so in the description. I am in love with the Celini Red (which turns peach), Merlot (a light red), Aqua pearl (stays pretty true to color) and the yellow mica. Of course, they don't have sparkle in cold process. Nice bright colors though.
