I saw SQ's blog post on whipped shea butter (it's been awhile) and I want to try this...but I have mango butter instead of the shea butter, and sweet almond oil instead of the CO, lol. Would that still work? Also, I don't need to make as big of a batch as she did, so was wondering what percentages to use of each..50/50? Or use more mango butter over oils?

I made a small batch...4 oz. mango butter and 1 oz. sweet almond oil. It doesn't look like it's supposed to-it doesn't look nice and creamy in the container...it looks clumpy and chalky. I think I over-whipped it and maybe didn't use enough oil? Any suggestions? It feels good when I rub some on my skin, it just doesn't go on smooth.

It should work well, I think. I made a body butter once of whipped mango butter, cocoa butter, and sweet almond oil. It feels a little greasy at first, but the sweet almond does help it absorb quickly. I used 3 oz mango, 6 oz cocoa butter, and 3 oz sweet almond. (I also threw in a little cocoa powder to enhance the scent of the cocoa butter and to give it a light brown color.) Do be careful not to overwhip it, as it can turn out kind of hard. Hope this helps!

I'd start with 50/50 ratio of butter to oil and then adjust the percentages up or down according to your specific need. Just remember that your body butter will feel greasy no matter what. You can use cornstarch to cut down the grease factor.
Just follow Anne-Marie's instructions and you'll be all set

thanks for the replies! I wasn't sure what consistency I should have...if it should be more creamy or not. I made another batch a little differently: 6oz. mango butter 2 oz. sweet almond oil and 1 oz. avocado oil. Comparing the two, the first batch is pretty hard... so I think I did need to use more oil...and I overwhipped it. The second batch, I stopped whipping it right when I started seeing peaks. It's a soft paste and easier to apply...melts on contact. They both feel good on the skin, but I'm liking the added avocado oil. I must like being greasy!
