Teach Soap

I just made a goats milk soap with oatmeal, honey and milk FO. I want to dust the textured top with a mica and have never tried this before. I am wondering when is the best time to do this.... before it is fully hardened, just before I take it out of the mold, after I remove it from the mold or after the cure time?

I would do it after you take it out of the mold, or you can do each bar individually, so the mica doesn't smear.

Thanks soapbuddy. That is a good thought about the mica smearing down the bar as I would cut them. I will do it right after I cut them!

I've never used mica on top of finished soap. Can I stamp soap and rub a little mica into the stamped area to high light the stamp?

Did the mica tops and as usual it was a learning experience... I don't know if you will be able to see the shine on the tops but here is a photo:

I started with gold - so its tone on tone--not good! Then decided to do a green top on gold soap (ok, its a greenbay packer thing!) - not good, the green looked well - not green. Then did a copper mica and that was better and what you might see in the photo.

If you don't like it, could you just rinse it off, dry it, then brush it again with mica?
