Hi Everyone!

I'm new here - glad to be part of this forum! I just started making CP and M&P soaps - I have lots to learn!

I'd like to make M&P soap today with my new shea butter base. I plan to color some of it w/liquid pink from BB and I'd also like to add patchouli EO. Will this discolor the white shea base?

It might. It depends which variety you have.

Thank you - I just tried it and it made it ever so slightly yellowed, but not too bad.

Hi, Lisa! Welcome!

I have some Bramble Berry patchouli EO and didn't notice any discoloration in my white base. I used a patch/lavender EO blend and the bar stayed nice and white. Haven't tried it with a clear base, and I haven't tried other varieties of patchouli EO, either.

Hope that helps!

Edited to add that I used the lavender and patchouli at a 3:1 ratio, so the amount of patchouli EO in my soap was relatively small.
