I used a 33% borax/water solution as a neutralizer at a rate of 3/4 oz per lb of soap paste. I don't have a pH meter yet but I'm waiting for the phenolphthalein I ordered to come get here.

Good news! I shampooed my hair last night with my new liquid soap and it worked great! My hair felt clean without being stripped and was really soft afterwards!
I used it on my little girl this morning with great results also. :D
