Teach Soap

How the heck are you supposed to get the soap out of those molds????? Am I supposed to be greasing tnem or something? The first time I used it they popped out fine. The second time I strained a muscle in my shoulder and ended up digging the soap out with a spoon. Don't tell me to put it in the freezer. That didn't help.

Sounds like you need harder oils in there, or possibly some sodium lactate.

My oils were coconut, olive, palm, castor, sunflower, cocoa butter, soybean and lard. This has always given me a pretty hard soap. I only left it in the mold about 18 hours. Do I maybe just need to leave it in the mold long to shrink???

Did it gel? What fragrance did you use?

I am new to this but I do not believe it jelled. I have seen jell when I use a loaf mold. This mold is four individual cavities on one mold. I made a batch of soap and put curls in that had Bramble Berries Oatmeal, Milk and Honey FO. There was no fragrance other than in the curls. I would sure like to figure this mold thing out since I have two more ordered.

Ungelled soap takes longer to saponify and harden. For single molds like this, lightly cover them with a towel and put a heating pad underneath on low til the soap gells. Turn the heating pad off as soon as the whole soap is in full gel, so it doesn't overheat. Let cool off and it should be easier to get it out of your mold.

Well, at least that is one thing I have done right. I always measure in grams. I was thinking of trying to rebatch the soap that I dug out of the mold. My object here is to try to get the hang of the mold so if my pretty curls all melt together I don't care. When I had this mold problem it was only about 12 ounces of the batch I made. The rest of the batch was poured in a loaf mold and it came out great.

Sure, you can rebatch. Since the soap is still new, don't add any more water.
