Teach Soap

Hello!

I had someone to ask me if I could make a soap that incorporated a salt scrub. I am sure that I can...I just do not know what to use.

Have any of you made a M&P salt bar? Is there a certain type of salt I should use? (I assume coarse) Anything else I should know?

I wouldn't add either castor or beeswax. Castor can make MP soft and with beeswax you would loose bubbles. If you want a salt bar, I would add the salt as the MP is solidifying. Or you could add the salt to the bottom of your mold, then pour MP over it.

Thanks! I had never added anything out of the ordinary to my M&P soap so I did not understand all that. I bought my sea salt yesterday but was not sure whether to buy fine or coarse. I bought coarse and figured I could try it in a bar and if it is too harsh I can blend it down to a finer salt.

Would this be the same for sugar also? I have seen recipes with brown sugar and just sugar. I assume you just add it like you said for the salt? Thanks.

I haven't had good luck with sugar. It tends to melt faster and gets sticky, unlike salt.
