I got frustrated trying BB's Bonsai FO. I love the scent and it sticks to the soap but it's so hard to unmold. I can never get my log out without any breaking, and I use silicone molds. I have never had that much trouble with any FO except this one. Is there any trick to using it?

I soaped this scent about 2 months ago. I used a wood loaf mold lined with freezer paper. I didn't have any trouble with it unmolding. It a nice scent, I'll keep it in mind if I do soap it again and make sure I use a lined mold again.

How long did you wait before you unmold? I waited 24 hrs., not good, waited 48 hrs. better but still came out with corners chipped off. One time I even waited for almost a week but still didn't reach the hardness I want.

I usually soap in the a.m. and can unmold later that night. So roughly around 10 to 12 hours. The recipe I used was a recipe that hardens quickly anyway, So I probably unmolded around 9 or 10 p.m.

Soap Buddy, Does sodium lactate come from palm oil or somthing else? If it comes from palm oil what do you call the stuff thats left and what is it used for? I bought palm oil from Columbus Foods and had to heat it up and stir it together to use it. Just wondering :)

Would adding sodium lactate raise your superfat amount becuse its another oil? How much per lb. do you add?

I add about 1% of SL to my cooled off lye water. Superfatting is done with oils or butters, not SL. :)
