Teach Soap

Since a while, it is very hot and extremely humid over here (Montreal, Québec, Canada) and I dislike soaping when time is humid. I have a big production to do for end of September. I wait and wait that the weather is better, but I begin to worry and I will have to rush anyway.

Do you soap when time is humid ?

Something else : a very good soap I made last year developped DOS recently ! Is it possible that humidity has caused that ?

Do you use a dehumidifier and/or AC? If you do the soap as HP, that would still give you time so you could sell in September. Yes, humidity can cause DOS.

Thanks, Soapbuddy. No, I have no deshumidifier, but it becomes a priority that I buy one. Conditioned air is not enough : still too humid in the house.

You told me that I could make HP soap. I am a bit ashamed : I make soap since a bit more than 10 years and I have never made HP soap... I have read about the technique and saw pictures... well, I want to try. Is the soap always like "mashed potatoes" at the end of the process, I mean, before molding ?

Thank you Soapbuddy. The rough look of this "paste" does not appeal me, I must say. Therefore, I saw that (apparently) some recipes give a more or less rough soap. It looks that the "body" of the HP soap is a big waxy and this does not appeal me much either. Anyway. I will try the oven method as you tell me and see by myself.
