Hi, all,
Lately I've taken interest in the idea of using hydrosols in some of my soaps (for me and friends only, as hydrosols are too cost prohibitive for business), but I'm curious as to whether some hydrosols might have more staying power (in terms of scent) than others. Last week I made a small batch of rose facial soap, using 100% rose hydrosol in the lye mixture. The scent came out fine (though I did also infuse my soft oils with rose petals for a few weeks). I also have some jasmine hydrosol, which I've used in lotions with great success. But the scent of the jasmine is considerably weaker than the rose, and weaker than other jasmine products I have (floral wax, dried jasmine, and my tiny bottles of oil). Has anyone here ever tried using jasmine hydrosol in soap, and had it turn out ok? (In case it matters, the species this hydrosol comes from is the officinale, not the grandiflora or sambac.)
