Teach Soap

So I made some soap last night and was laughing because it gelled itself! But today, I took it out of the drawer I use to support the mold, and there are spots in the soap. Please tell me this isn't curdled or something that'll ruin the batch. Its 5lbs of soap. :/

It looks to me like you didn't mix everything thoroughly. Did you use a stick blender? Do the spots zap? How warm were your oils and lyewater when you combined them?

I used a stick blender and everything was right at 110. I dunno if the spots zap yet, its still in the mold. I'll give it another day before trying to get it out and see.

Yes, give it a day or so then test.

Ok, got it out of the mold, licked my finger, rubbed a spot, licked my finger. No 'zap' though it did feel...warm? I mean, its only 2 days old, its still got some lye in it I thought. So...just...chunky soap? *laughs*

Yeah, they look oily. Some were even weeping a bit when they're cut. Though, the whole soap seems to be weeping now, lol. I tried that too, still no zap. Just taste like...soap. *makes a face*

Maybe rebatch it? Or is it a lost 5lbs?

Give it another couple of days. There's still chance that the weeping will reabsorb back in.

If it's not lye heavy I see nothing wrong with using it as is. You can always say you MEANT for it to look that way and refuse to tell anyone your secret technique for achieving that look.
