i was at a farmers market this week and some soapmaker has "triple-milled" soap that they said is cold process. what exactly does milled or triple-milled soap mean? i usually ask my mentor supersoaper but he has been out of the country like forever. thanks.

Milled soap is Cold Process, basically, it's rebatch soap. :)
So it's made as cold process, then it's graded up again and melted into new bars.

Why on earth would anyone do that 3 times ( triple milled)? Or is that just so much bull s##t ? I might be able to see doing it once but 3 times???

3 times seems excessive. What is the so-called benefit of that I wonder?

There is no benefit to rebatching soap three times. If anything, too many rebatches will make the soap flaky and dry. True triple milled is done by the big boys. They use pre-made noodles with the glycerin taken out and processed through rollers. There is no way any of us could do true triple milled soaps without expensive machines to get a soap product. It's a misnomer and a fancy buzzword like triple scented candles.
