I want to make a soap that's white. I know this means, no gel phase. :)

But what kinds on oils should I used?

Palm Kernel flakes are recommended for making white bars, but how much as a % of oils?

If you have a recipe to share, please do share.

Get the lightest (in color) olive oil that you can find. Try 20% coconut, 15% palm kernel, 40% olive, 18% soybean, 5% mango or shea butter, 2% castor.

I have done two white bars. The whitest one, Shea Butter Supreme, was from Anne Watson's book, Smart Soapmaking. Makes a very hard bar with medium to decent lather (guess it depends on personal preference how you would describe):

10.5 oz coconut oil
10.5 oz olive oil
9 oz shea butter
8 oz distilled water
4.2 oz lye

I have also heard of plain Crisco soap producing a stark white bar. I did a batch with coconut oil and sweet almond oil, but I also added ground oats and lavender buds. Still turned out pretty white with the add-ins but nowhere near as white as Anne's. I would describe the 2nd one as a murky white. It also hardens very quickly.

I posted a picture in the Show off thread of the Shea butter supreme. Just finished the Crisco soap last night. I hope this helps in revealing some options. :)
