Hi everyone,
I need some assistance with your thoughts on using clamshells instead of shrink wrapping soap. I have purchased the LCP base from Brambleberry and was hoping to avoid shrink wrapping as I have RA and its hard for me to do it. I have found a source for clamshells on ebay to pour the base and just fastened when hard for a quick packaging method. Please give me your thoughts on this matter. After reading some other comments, I am now concerned the LCP might be to drying out of the skin. thanks a bunch for your thoughts.

I'm not speaking for everyone, but I found the LCP base pretty drying. You can use clam shells, but the best way to know how well it would work is to get a sample and try it first.

thanks what do you suggest about the LCP base? Do I need to add something to it to make it better, and If I do then do I need to shrink wrap it? The LCP base has done well as far as not sweatin g in the present humidity we are having here in eastern Kansas.
Thanks

Try adding some mango or shea butter, up to 1 TBS per lb. of base. That might work for you.

i only use LPC and i don't find it drying at all, i add no more than 1 tablespoon of oil per lb and stearic acid and f/o and colorants. I have found out that i need to explain to customers that occasionally they will feel a little dry until they use it for a couple of days/weeks then your body will start naturally producing the oil it needs. this is not a cosmetic claim, just explaining that they will get accomsted to using it and i have plenty of repeat customers. most of them say they use very little lotion now due to the soap. actually have a lot of construction workers/masons that use my soap, i make sure i tie little silk flowers to the soap just to give them a hard time.

Anyway, did not mean to write a book, just happen to love the LCP, i live in florida and it is very hot and humid on the river and for me it holds up wonderfully.

have fun

jan

thanks so much for your post. I have made two different sets of wedding favors with the LCP and everyone loved the soap. I guess I get a litte too concerned sometimes as I am trying to get my soap in to two different stores here is Kansas. In fact one of them, asked me to bring samples over a year ago and I just want eveything to be right. I t would be really neat to get the soap in the stores so i have been working really hard to get the labels right as well as the packaing.
Do you mind telling me how you package your LCP soap you sell.
thanks a bunch!

I use LCP its a must with our humidity in Aussieland.I add oils at 1 tbs per lb and so far have been quite happy with it.The clamshells would be too expensive for us over here ,l started off using shrinkwrap but l never really perfected the art of getting a neat wrapping so l went to saran and now l use cellophane because it gives such a neat crisp look to the wrapping and you can still smell through it.

Thanks so much for your post. I feel the same way about shrink wrap as I can not get it to look as nice as I want. I had a small set back this morning at a craft show, however, as I had wrapped some of the soap in cellophane and after the sun moved and I was directly under it the soap started to sweat so more than likely they are no t good now(:. Live and learn, I moved to the shade prob. too late .!!!! everyone seemed t o like the soap ,just not a good weekend as it is a holiday and lots of folks ae out of town and had other plans.

Hopefully one of the more experienced soapers will chime in, but I think you could unwrap and dry out the soaps that were sweating and wrap again. Surely they're not ruined. I read where some put soaps in the freezer to speed up hardening and this causes sweating. They then set them in front of a fan and when the sweating stops, the re-wrap.
I've not personally experienced this, but have read other comments.

Someone chime in and save bis48's soaps.

All the best!
