Teach Soap

I was recently told by a soapmaker at a craft show that she achieved the colour purple in her soap from lavender essential oil.

I have soaped many times with lavender essential oil (however only one or two different varieties) which never altered the colour at all. I do know that some EOs can alter the colour in CP however is there a "magical" lavender EO somewhere out there that I am not aware of? Some of her soaps on display smelled rancid, needless to say I was quite disappointed and didn't buy anything.

There's no way you can get purple from just using lavender oil.

That is so frightening. What is this person using to color her soap that she doesn't want to talk about? Cloths dye? WOW

I wonder if she makes the soap herself at all. You can always tell when someone is just bull #$%^ing their way through answers. I never buy from anyone who I think is lying to me. What does the lable in the soap say?

Soap labels - there were none of those.
Regulations - we're a bit behind the rest of the world!

I just got sidetracked too and was reading about lead levels in lipsticks!

In my local markets (I'm near Atlanta, Georgia), I have to label each piece of soap with ingredients and my name and number. I'm sure each market is different, so be sure and check out the rules before you get there.

Wow, she said lavender EO colored her soap purple. Sometimes vendors say things to the customers because they think the public doesn't know better. But honesty is the best policy!
